FR Review:
Yogaworks is designed for the everyday person who wants to fit an hour or so of physical challenge and spiritual awareness into their day. The classes are intense, instructors are inspiring and knowledgeable, and the ambiance is casual.
With four NYC locations and multiple classes starting as early as 6:30am and ending after 9pm, Yogaworks makes Zenning out and shaping up fun and convenient (not the practice itself, but making it there anyway). The studios are large and airy, an important attribute, as classes tend to be packed. The changing rooms are spacious, with electronic lockers and full shower facilities. Yet given Yogaworks' popularity, lockers are regularly full and there is almost always a line for the shower. This doesn’t seem to inhibit regular members, who stuff their bags beneath benches and head home sweaty.
A variety of standard (Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar) and blend classes make up the schedule. The Yogaworks signature class is highly recommended by staff and regular class-goers because of its moderate pace and emphasis on alignment. Another Yogaworks specialty is the Barworks class, a fusion of yoga, pilates, and ballet.
Prices are steep for drop-ins at $22 a class ($30 at the flagship Soho location). However, monthly memberships are surprisingly inexpensive at around $115 - $130 for unlimited classes. If you practice two times a week or more then a membership is the way to go. Overall, Yogaworks works and makes it easy to tie yoga practice into daily life. It is tailored to nourish the athlete within the urbanite.
