FR Review:
You can count on Plaza to get it right. Always interesting, but never too much. Connie Plaissay and his family have been an Upper East Side floral fixture since 1925. Growing up in a family of florists, Plaissay's grandfather started the business on the very same site as where the business is located today. Fortunately, that is just down the block from Episcopal, where young mothers can easily access this well-known, dependable mainstay after drop-off. After a summer floral internship in Cannes, Plaissay settled in Manhattan, sending his daughter to Episcopal as well. His style reflects the warm, vibrant sun of the South of France--mostly monochromatic, but rich in texture. Hydrangea, garden roses and peonies are typical, following the seasons. It is a tighter, pavé look, which is compact, but never overcrowded or overdone.
The majority of Plaza's work is residential: "Thank You" arrangements and dinner parties. Some event and corporate work is done as well. A classic "Thank You" bouquet in a cylindrical glass vase ranges from $85 to $100, with the bottom of the range totally becoming.
Representative Client Comments:
"Tried and true-- they have had my credit card on file for years and are very effective and efficient, yet still warm and personable." "Excellent about changing it up for the season and for the occasion, yet still always very appropriate." "They usually do an arrangement with a limited mixture of flowers, so that it looks warm, not mechanical or commercial like so many of the other UES florists. I totally trust them to do the right thing."
