Company Philosophy

Launched in 1959, Lyric remains on the cutting edge by identifying trends early. A pioneer of custom installation, as well as the creator of some of the nation's first remote-controlled audio installations, founder Michael Kay, earns respect and approval from references and peers alike. His two top employees, Leonard Bellezza and Dan Mondoro, by then with Lyric for 27 years and 20 years respectively, took over the operation in 2004, but Kay remains in the store on a daily basis and is still very much involved.
The firm's staff of nearly two dozen includes project managers who act as liaisons with customers, with their designers and their architects. Because it has bases in Manhattan and White Plains, Lyric can effectively cover a greater service region and can often provide same-day service for clients experiencing problems.
The company, which offers a one-year warranty on parts and labor, handles a wide range of projects, from entry-level component music and A/V systems to cinema and home automation systems in the six-figure bracket. Lyric’s work can be seen and heard in homes around the United States, and in Europe, Asia, and South America as well.

Areas of Expertise / Recent Projects
As the images on these pages show, Lyric routinely handles custom installation projects on vastly different scales. In the first, a flat-panel TV and adjoining speakers are integrated into a wall-mounted furniture unit while related music components are concealed beneath behind its closed doors. A second, living room system is equipped for multichannel theater sound yet remains equally unobtrusive; its electronics nestle in a bright red Chinese cabinet below the wall-mounted TV display, four surround sound speakers are hidden in walls, and a subwoofer is positioned behind a plant. The media room illustrated, as elaborate as it is distinguished, features a wall with three TV monitors that permit separate sports events to be screened simultaneously. A special equipment closet, with hinged doors, houses most of the electronics needed for a superb music system. The spectacular below-ground theater pictured was featured on the cover of AudioVideo Interiors magazine and even has a ticket booth at the head of the stairs leading to it. Also shown: a living room where an audiophile proudly shows his monumental speakers and related music reproduction hardware.
