Company Philosophy
I've never looked at container or terrace gardening as the ugly stepsister of "real" gardens, but rather as an opportunity to make many gratifying design choices. Terraces are about plants, flowers, texture, and color. But the containers themselves set the atmosphere, and can be an extension of the apartment decor or a realization of one's fantasy garden.

Whatever the direction, it's always hard to tear myself away from my newest baby and force myself to remember that it doesn't belong to me!

Areas of Expertise/Recent Projects
• The redefinition of an extensive roof garden, with views of the skyline, for a midtown business - a space for employee use and for entertaming, including a pergola and largepotted trees.

• A terrace on Park Avenue in the 70s for a young family who wanted an enclosure that provides a sense of privacy but preserves the distant city views. I designed a fence that dips to expose the view and frames it with large hayrack baskets for changing seasonal flowers. An aspect of this garden that is most exciting to the owners is the decorative end-of-season winter arrangements of boxwood branches and evergreens -one of my specialties.

• A 3000-foot terrace in Park Slope - an ongoing project as the couple who own it decide what their needs and activities will be. I have designed garden plans for a lively family area as well as for a more formal environment mainly for adult use (and parties), and we are working to combine the two into a pleasing synthesis.
