FR Review:
Scott Ageloff set the tone of this award-winning firm to accept "nothing by the best" and as a result clients say they won't accept anyone other than Ageloff & Associates. The firm is now a triple-threat partnership, with Erin Wells as head of Interior Design and Reid Betz manning Architecture. The firm has worked in some of the most prominent Manhattan spaces (four apartments in the Dakota) and is also willing to take on just one great room. The style moniker is classical with grace and panache. Most importantly, they are known as great listeners and interpreters who realize their clients' needs, desires and dreams.
Ageloff, the former dean of the New York School of Interior Design, with a B.Arch from Carnegie-Mellon University and an M.Arch. from Yale, is extremely well versed (some say "brilliant") in combining design and architecture. Wells builds upon her strong artistic background with a BA from Oberlin College, a BFA from NYSID and a breath of worldwide travel. Betz has a keen spacial sense, a fundamental appreciation of the balance between built and natural environments, and precise execution derived from degrees in civil engineering at Cooper Union and an MArch from Georgia.
Organization is another Ageloff firm strength, delivered with a kind and pleasant demeanor. Clients add that follow-up is "terrific" and "when they says one week, they mean one week." There are ten people in the highly effective office (most have been with the firm for years: Wells since 2002 and Betz since 2003) and about twenty projects at a time. It is said that the Leads "always there to hold your hand." The firm as a whole is said to have a good sense of relational elements, mixing old details of a structure with a modern, livable look. We hear clients' favorite element about working with the team is their ability to suggest creative, unexpected touches that end up being the most beloved aspects of the home. Recent projects include a loft overlooking the Highline and a Frick estate in Bedford. The firm works on a reasonable hourly rate with a small mark-up over net on products. All clients say that the fees are absolutely worth the price and that they were saved from potentially costly errors. The firms ability to do architectural work as well as interior design further controls costs. ASID.
Representative Client Comments:
"Scott is smart, savvy, very calm, organized, responsive, honest, creative and fun to work with." "He was sensitive to my terror about the whole project, and thanks to Scott, what I began with dread, I finished with fun." "Never dictatorial." "I am really not 'into' the whole designing, shopping thing, so for me to say it was painless is really saying something." "Very decent and correct gentleman." "Never missed a deadline." "I still call him years after our renovation to ask his opinion about subsequent purchases." "My husband originally chose Scott, and I wanted to be cheap, holding the budget to $150,000. Scott was honest enough to say that was impossible. There were no surprises with Ageloff & Associates." "Scott helped us sharpen the pencil and intelligently cut down the contractor's estimate." "The finished product was beyond my original hopes and even my wildest dreams!"
