FR Review:
IMG's Leadbetter Golf Academy offers the highest level of golf instruction and peer competition for your child at its summer camps. IMG is home to both a full-time Academy for aspiring collegiate athletes and professionals and camps that run throughout the year. IMG is renowned for turning out golf superstars Michelle Wie, David Gossett and Sean O'Hair and for the rigorous training and high-level of instruction its participants receive. IMG offers weeklong camps for players (between ages 8 and 18) of any level, as well as a three week camp that can include high school and college courses, SAT prep or ELL classes. For a dedicated golfer, IMG runs a 3 week Tournament Camp designed specifically to strengthen participants' match play tactics and performance.
Leadbetter Golf Academy breaks training down in to three phases (technical, pre-competition and competition) and addresses each phase individually. Video analysis and match play are the cornerstones of the Leadbetter program. Video analysis sessions are utilized to refine each player's swing and perfect the technical aspects of their stroke and campers play a minimum of 36 holes in a week at the incredible IMG and La Quinta courses. As any golf aficionado knows well, mental strength is a large part of the game, so Leadbetter campers improve their mental conditioning during discussions about goal setting, how to practice effectively and being open to change. Attention to pre-shot routine and visualization is also stressed in order to increase each players comfort and composure during competition.
Leadbetter Golf Academy runs excellent camps for young golfers, though it's advisable not to send your child to the five week camp unless they are a reasonably experienced golfer.
