FR Review:
A catering company that recruits its serving staff from modeling agencies certainly cares about presentation, and presentation is Shiraz Event's forté. From event design and production to in-house floral arranging, Shiraz creates unique event looks for its fashionable corporate and private dining clientele while serving up chic culinary fare. Appetizers can be quite novel, such as quail egg sprinkled with smoked salt resting on frisee and lardons. Entrees tend to be more substantial and traditional, like brick chicken with wild rice and hericot verts or espresso braised short ribs. Shiraz places special emphasis on cocktails, often creating one or more specialty cocktails for each event.
Shiraz has the wherewithal for events both large and small, from the 140th anniversary bash for Harper's Bazaar to a summer dinner party in the Hamptons. This wherewithal aids in their flexibility when it comes to lead times: Shiraz was able to conceptualize and implement a large birthday celebration with less than a week's notice. Those seeking very intimate catering without a lot of fanfare, though, may find a more boutique firm a better fit.
Prices are reasonable: a cocktail reception for 100+ comes to about $100 per person while a seated dinner (including alcohol) starts around $200 per person. Shiraz services the tri-state area and has a second office in Miami. Potential clients are welcomed to peruse "look books" or make tasting appointments to get a better sense of Shiraz's style and offerings.
Representative Client Comments:
"I cannot praise them enough for their work." "They take the time to understand their clients' needs and create unforgettable experiences for everyone involved." "The staff is extremely proactive." "The food is always innovative, sophisticated, elegant and delicious."
