FR Review:
Some might question why 67 Wine is located on West 68th Street, but there is no questioning the vast knowledge of their sales staff. This Upper West Side gem opened its doors at 67 West 67th Street in 1941 and 35 years later moved around the corner to its current location. 67 Wine's staff know their wares better than anyone because they are in charge of buying them. Each sales person is assigned to a specific region and becomes a buyer for that region, meaning that there should always be someone on the floor to answer any question you might have, or to suggest the perfect label for a special occasion or dish. The regional selection is heavy on French, Italian, U.S. and Spanish vintners, but you will find everything from crisp Austrian Rieslings to deep Argentinian Malbecs, as well as rare and special bottles. There is also a noteworthy fine-spirits section, with a good selection of whiskeys, vodkas, and tequilas.

67 Wine remains family owned and is headed by the founder's grandson, Bernie Weiser. The shop hosts daily wine tastings and is spread over two floors, though we hear the quarters can feel cramped at times. Luckily, 67 Wine delivers, with delivery comprising the majority of the company's business. Four full-time employees are devoted to orders and shipping alone, and anyone who calls in an order reaches an informed salesperson. Their delivery service is especially popular for larger orders (free delivery anywhere in the state of New York on orders of $125 or more) and those wanting to send gifts to friends and colleagues. Prices are reasonable in spite of the shop's high degree of specialization. There is always a good selection of bottles on special, for $15.00 or less, and even the fine spirit prices are kept in check. 67 Wine is recommended to wine enthusiasts and novices alike, especially for delivery, although we hear that orders should be placed at least a day in advance of expected receipt.

Representative Client Comments:
"I love them--deluxe all around!" "Head buyer Bart is such an expert." "If you need delivery, call at least a day in advance."

They are so much more than just wine--their single-malt scotch selection is amazing. I'm a big fan of the place.
