FR Review:
This is the place to go to find a truly unique and treasured wedding or housewarming gift. Not only can you find current silver patterns at about 1/3 off retail and charming discontinued patterns, but you can also find a present for you or someone else that will be remembered always. Also, digging through the mounds of silver and leaving with slightly tarnished hands is an experience in itself.
The shop, around since 1910, is described as a "step back in time," with over 2,000 different patterns of sterling flatware in-house. The "helpful" and "knowledgeable" owners Jim and David assist customers in navigating the incredible inventory while managing to keep the atmosphere "totally low pressure." They will also notify you if you leave your pattern name and the pieces that you are missing. Prices are recommended as "extremely reasonable."
Other services include "painstakingly polishing" and "expertly repairing" silver flatware and holloware. They also buy and sell estate jewelry and contemporary pieces in more than just silver (gold, platinum, diamonds, gemstones), but the shop remains thoroughly "silver hearted."
Representative Client Comments:
"Jean's is my go-to for one-of-a-kind special silver pieces for baby showers, weddings and birthday presents--they also do great repairs." "Ask for Jim." "Going to Jean's is like going to the London Silver Vaults--you never know what you're going to come out with." "The only place to go in Manhattan for silver vintage anything." "They're great about engraving." "For estate jewelry, talk to Jose. He is incredibly knowledgable." "Very fair prices." "People who know anything about silver, all go to Jean's." "It may not look like much from the outside, and a little dodgy on the inside, but don't be fooled by that."
