Known for being able to adapt their designs to each clients’ needs, their simple but elegant style and use of timeless materials make TECNY Group a client favorite. Known for using high-quality products such as wood and stone, Solomon Asser, principal of this New York-based firm, tells us that the materials should always compliment the space to make it elegant. Asser opened the business in 1990 and has several years of experience in the construction industry, as well as a combined masters degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Columbia University.
The company consists of four designers, four administrators, eight members of the construction team and three project managers. Seventy-five percent of business is high-end residential, however the company also designed all of L'Occitane's stateside stores. The majority of TECNY Group’s work is in areas like the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, the Village and Midtown, and ranges in scope from a full renovation of a one-bedroom apartment to a 12,000-square-foot new construction. About half the time, clients use TECNY Group as a design/build firm, but the other half of the company’s business is purely design. Thus, total budget can vary from a $100,000 to a few million. TECNY Group has many loyal customers, and has even done five projects for a single client.
