FR Review:
Eric Lysdahl receives accolades for his resourcefulness, patience, and designs of familiar warmth. Whether it be a six-story townhouse, a new house in the Hamptons, or a set of curtains, he is known to give his all in developing unique and personalized designs. With a view grounded in tailored neoclassical reference, his compositions show knowledge of the greats but also evoke a strong, metropolitan modernity. Bringing elegant lines to Fifth Avenue and stylish, comfortable chic to the Hamptons, Lysdahl successfully wraps his creations around his clients to fit their lifestyle.

Lysdahl is said to have the winsome personality of a small-town Midwesterner (where he was raised) and the expertise of a designer with degrees from both FIT (in fashion) and The New York School of Interior Design. A recent New York Times article described him as "outwardly mild-mannered...but with a maverick attitude and a sure-footed sense of drama." After training with Bunny Williams, Lysdahl started his own firm in 1998. Aided by a single assistant, he takes on about three larger jobs and a handful of smaller jobs at a time. Current projects include the renovation and decoration of a manor house in Connecticut, an historic Palladian-style mansion in Wetschester County, a Japanese-inspired Arts and Crafts home in Bridgehampton, and a grand apartment in The Riverhouse.

Clients say Lysdahl produces a luxury look at a realistic price. He is known to shop everywhere, seeking "that special find." Shopping with clients is the norm, with all pricing discussed up front. The firm charges a modest design fee and reasonable markups. Vendors are off the beaten path, with Lysdahl "staying on top of every detail." ASID.

Representative Client Comments:
"In his very clever American way, he was able to combine some inherited antiques with contemporary furnishings to create a scheme which is both chic and timeless." "Posh without pretense." "Eric rescued my apartment and me from a horrible start with someone else." "With friendly colors, textures, and lots of quirky antiques, he created warmth and a home with heart." "I would never even buy a napkin ring without his approval." "Before Eric, my collection of English and Continental antiques looked like a jumble. He created a unified look that sings." "While it cost a bit more than I'd imagined, the end result was worth it." "His professionalism, pleasantness, and personal eloquence are evident the second he walks through the door."
