FR Review:
One of the most trusted names in oriental run cleaning and repair, Robert Mann’s remains unsurpassed in reputation. Housed in a 15,000 square foot building in Denver, Colorado, Mann and his team of twenty employees work on handmade pieces that demand a rare knowledge. The business also has a facility in Izmir, Turkey, known as the workshops of Woven Legends Restoration, for more involved restorations. Cutting down, restoring and resizing Navajo and oriental rugs is the company specialty, but they also work with European tapestries and the manufacturers of new Tibetan rugs. Mann also frequently collaborates with the Textile Museum and is a frequent attendee of the American Conference of Oriental Rugs.

During the 1970’s, Mann spent six years traveling in Asia after which he took an apprenticeship with Iranian craftsman learning the Oriental rug business. He then worked nearly fifteen years in the commercial carpet cleaning industry as a consultant and formed relationships with textile conservators. Almost all of his employees are trained onsite. There is very little turnover at the company, and most employees have been working there over ten years. One third of Mann’s business comes from out of state and much of it is trade. Mann is involved in all the processes and when items need to go to Turkey, he will arrange for the shipping at a rate of $6 per pound, round trip. Prices for cleaning are based on the square foot and range from $3-$4. Prices for restoration are quoted up front and depend upon the extent of the damage. For large areas, the cost can go up to as high as $15,000, but most restorations are around $2,000. Mann has an impeccable reputation for being trustworthy, and according to our sources; he is the only person to see about Navajo textiles.
