FR Review:
Anna Burke creates classic interiors that start conversations. A young designer with an enthusiasm for her craft, she gives clients tasteful, well-balanced rooms filled with beguiling objects. Burke generally starts with neutrals which serve as a backdrop for distinct pieces (she will occasionally use lively patterned wallpaper where another designer would use a splashy color). In a hallway, a natural wood table is supported by intricate gilded branches, while elsewhere exquisitely pre- served tortoise shells invite inquiry. This approach is both practical (clients don’t have to redecorate when an au courant color slips out of style) and winning, as homes are unique.

A Chicago native, Burke studied at Parsons while interning at Kemble Interiors in New York. She spent six years with Celerie Kemble before opening her own shop in 2014. She enlisted the help of her sister, Caroline Burke, who'd worked previously at Conde Nast, to help her grow her business and manage client relationships. The two work together to create cohesive spaces and manage clients across different locales with a hands-on approach. Clients are often young families getting set up on Park Avenue or appointing their (first) second homes. Burke takes special pleasure working with a blank state–clients who love good design but appreciate direction.

For her services, Burke charges a standard design fee and markup on product. Though the firm only takes on full-scale design projects for new clients, her ability to combine impact pieces with 1stdibs finds and a “fundamental practicality” allows her to “make it work for a range of budgets.” Recent work has taken Burke to Palm Beach, East Hampton, Virginia and Chicago. Sources praise her taste, her work ethic and her intelligence, saying she is “someone to watch in the years to come.”

Representative Client Comments:
“Really good with mixing textures.” “She had to push me on this one wallpaper. I didn’t want to initially, then a few weeks later we were in the design building and I noticed a room I loved–it was the exact same wallpaper! Her instincts are great.” “So witty and easygoing.” “Great listener, no ego.” “Working with her, she’s become a friend.” “She works so hard, I feel like she always got back to me right away with a great answer.”
