FR Review:
In business since 1977, this shop of ten is recognized for its solid workmanship and affordable prices. The firm’s strong suit is renovation, and principal Steve Einhorn, the dependable anchor of the firm, has worked in Manhattan’s finer townhouses, apartments and brownstones. Sources say he and his team have the know-how to work with high-end residential contractors, from the design stage to cleanup. We also hear that the company excels at radiant heating jobs.

This is mostly a “to the trade” firm—the vast majority of its clients are contractors, not individual homeowners. Though Anchor has a dedicated truck for service calls, it will only work on existing clients’ pipes. Some sources have experienced service back-ups, prompting them to wish Anchor was a larger outfit. However, the same sources are quick to point out that the firm’s small size allows Einhorn to put his invaluable personal stamp on all of the company’s work.

Representative Client Comments:
“Good man with a good company. Timely, knowledgeable and effective.” “Steve is a whiz kid. Calling him is like calling a plumbing encyclopedia.” “Better for new construction than emergency service type jobs.” “Anchor gets involved at the design stage in a meaningful way.” “Incredibly well-priced.”
