Having evolved from high-caliber millworker to top-gun GC over the course of 27 years, Steve Mark of SMI specializes in significant townhouse rehabs and apartment renovations. The firm also offers construction management services and does its own tiling, plastering and general carpentry, all of which adds to the efficient big picture.
Mark, a “rare talent,” has produced superb service since 1977. Clients admire Mark as a “straight shooter” who’s dedicated to getting every detail perfectly right. They say that he and his crew and “exceptional” subcontracts deliver a level of finished product above expectations, even given the high price. Ten jobs are undertaken at one time, primarily on the Upper East and Upper West Sides, with budgets from $1 million to upwards of $35 million.
