FR Review:
Clients find this experienced husband-and-wife firm "truly a gem," while peers tell us they "keep getting better with each job." Naiztat and Ham is equally comfortable designing in modernist or traditional styles, creating interiors that are "at once innovative and classic." The two met while studying at Cornell. Their firm, founded in 1988, commands a high volume of work, both residential and commercial, mostly within the New York area and the Hamptons. A residential gut renovation or remodel is the norm, running anywhere from $200,000 to $30 million. For new clients, the firm prefers to take on only full projects, but for existing clients, we're told that the firm will do anything that is interesting.

References describe this small shop of seven as creative and reliable, and its partners as very approachable and "amazingly responsive," noting the team is "always on the spot" during unexpected problems, devising solutions with care, empathy and efficiency. Some consider Naiztat one of the most "visionary" designers they have had the opportunity to work with, noting that she is thorough, meticulous and "full of great ideas" when it comes to color and space. Ham is known for his technical capabilities. Contractors love these two for their very complete drawings, and clients are thrilled that there is very little room for contractor error/delay, given the excellent detail. The firm is commended for its ability to listen to ideas while remaining honest to the integrity of the structure. They are said to be "soup to nuts" architects, dealing with all issues to the end.

Sources agree that "they know their business well and are fun and easy to work with," and many report that they'd happily return for future projects. The practice charges a flat fee for a scope of work, and hourly for anything above and beyond that established scope.

Representative Client Comments:
"Diane and Alex swooped in and saved the day after we had a bad experience with another architect. No problem is insurmountable for this pair." "They have set themselves apart from their contemporaries." "As a general contractor, I am always ecstatic to work with them--they make our job easier." "Diane and Alex have a fabulous sense of space." "What was so important was their attention to detail from our first discussion to the last paint stroke on the wall." "Get them while you can! Or at least get on their waiting list." "Made the mind-boggling prospect of shopping for materials a breeze." "The duo was absolutely tenacious, working through the problems inherent with the existing structure until they created something that far exceeded our wildest dreams." "Their aim is to make clients happy."
