FR Review:
Originally established as William T. Georgis Architect in 1992, Ilya Mirgorodsky added to the headline in 2017, when this new firm was established. Architect and interior designer William T. Georgis is said to reinterpret modernism, combining clean lines with sumptuous materials. The designs are often a sequence of fluid spaces—unadorned, yet highly stylish. A Park Avenue apartment is reconfigured into a series of modern open rooms, glamorously retrofitted with linear yet comely surfaces such as marble, slate, onyx and plate glass. His work has become more eclectic these days, "referencing and updating history in transformative ways." References report that Georgis takes pride in tending to every facet of his projects himself, including the furniture and the hardware. We hear he is creative, witty and refined and that these qualities translate clearly in his work.

Georgis received a B.A. from Stanford and an M.Arch from Princeton, trained with architect/guru Robert Venturi and was an associate of Robert A.M. Stern's for eight years. Among recent projects are the design of a new townhouse in Manhattan, Chinatown Restaurant a new house in Amagansett, and the renovation and interiors of two Upper East Side apartments. He also is known for the lobby renovation at Lever House, and examples of his decorative work are in the permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Denver Art Museum. Ilya Mirgorodsky joined the firm in 2001 and was made partner in 2017. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute, New York (B. Arch., 1996). Prior to joining the firm, he worked for CentraRuddy and Ross Bianco Architect. They lead four full-time architects and four interior designers to create his "extremely high-end, extremely creative interiors." KB 1996, 2023. AD 100, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014. Monacelli Press monograph 2013.
