Bruce Bierman wins accolades for his practical skills, refined aesthetic, and warm personality. Trained in architecture and interiors at RISD, Bierman brings both skills to a project. While he is know as a modernist, clients also appreciate his ability to do traditional work with a lighter touch. Spaces typically feature a few shapely focal points, rather than an overwhelming number of objects. Projects include a large stone house in Greenwich, a penthouse at the Breakers in Palm Beach, an apartment in Miami, an apartment on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, and a loft in Chelsea. The work -no matter how large or small the project may be- offers comfort, strong details and clever storage space, all of which are Bierman’s specialities.
Started in 1984, the firm now employs a staff of fifteen. Clients happily report the team works well together and makes the process enjoyable. The firm charges a design fee depending upon the scope of the work, a reasonable percentage over net for product and standard oversight fees. Products are of high quality, but never over the top. Bierman is said to enjoy incorporating interesting electronics and cutting-edge A/V equipment into his work; still, he doesn’t shun older objects. Antiques may be purchased on an hourly consultation basis or percentage, depending upon the involvement of the firm. Budgets are meticulously detailed, with living rooms generally in the $75,000 to $200,000 range. Clients strongly recommend Bierman for his sympathetic approach to their lifestyle.
