With an innate sense of style and warmth, Susannah Talley has developed a cadre of supportive clients. Whether simply renovating a living room or fully redecorating an apartment, Talley is said to give it her all, finding elegant solutions while keeping an eye on the bottom line. Rooms generally reflect "Old World charm," incorporating chintzes filled with generous down and a clutter of books and mementos that reflect a life well lived. However, Talley enjoys contemporary projects as well, saying "it's all in the textures, fine art, minimalism, and lighting."
After fifteen years in and out of design in the Boston area, which included training with the venerable Roach & Craven, Talley moved her business to New York in 1997. A sole practitioner, she is known for doing whatever it takes to make the client happy including freshening flowers, hanging pictures, and general "sprucing up." Many of her current New York clients are busy single parents and professionals who are interested in all the details of comfortable family living, but feel they have too little time to attend to them. Talley maintains a summer home in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, thus keeping up with her loyal Boston base.
Clients tell us Talley is pragmatic, using as much of client's existing furniture as possible. She can work on a reasonable consultation basis or with a retainer and retail on product. For those who want to decorate their own homes but appreciate the value of seasoned advice, the firm offers hourly consultations.
