The staff of 30, under the direction of Tom Tausche, wins praise for its sensitivity to interior architecture when updating the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in older, North Shore residences. The installation of cooling systems, forced air furnaces, in-floor radiant heat and other new HVAC equipment in these vintage townhouses and high-rise co-ops, with minimum disturbance, has been Northstar's specialty for 30 years. It has its own custom sheet metal shop and offers full-coverage maintenance contracts. Although it gained its reputation along the North Shore, Northstar operates throughout metropolitan Chicago.
