FR Review:
Clients and peers alike applaud Suzanne Lovell's design skills—she is known for creating rooms of unassuming beauty and spirited elegance. Most projects are classically based with a more modern, creative twist. Supporters embrace Lovell's passion for design and her articulation of a historic tradition warmed by the finest materials and textures. With a specific point of view, Lovell is said to follow a timeless, yet forward-thinking course.

Lovell has a Bachelor of Architecture degree and worked at the famed architecture house, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, for six years before starting her own firm in 1986. The firm is quite large with 18 employees and an associated architect, and reportedly run as a "tight ship"with an excellent staff and regular, accurate budget updates. Projects range considerably from the office of a celebrated Chicagoan to a Lake Shore Drive transformation, to phased projects for younger clientele. Recently diversifying, Lovell launched an artistically transitional collection of furniture premiering in the NY Bergamo showroom.

The firm works with a standard up-front retainer, very high to standard hourly rates (depending on seniority) and a standard product markup (with hourly consulting fees for antiques purchased at auction). Living rooms are generally in the $100,000 to $150,000+ area. Clients report that the firm is quite expensive, but often come back for their second, third and fourth residence with great expectations. ASID. AD 100, 2004.

Representative Client Comments:
"Suzanne has followed a calling into interior design. Her designs are extraordinarily and uniquely beautiful." "While I truly admire Suzanne's work, I do find it annoying when her assistant returns my calls." "You can tell that Suzanne grew up with a family of historians and is classically influenced by her years of exposure to Winterthur." "They have the highest expectations of themselves, the subs, their clients and the final product. While some probably cannot appreciate this exacting methodology, I could not be satisfied any other way." "They are to be admired for their good business sense as well as their exceptional design sense." "Suzanne takes common rooms and turns them into celebrations of design."
