FR Review:
Formerly a real estate appraiser, for 30 years William Edgerton has focused on only one room in the house: the cellar. Edgerton evaluates wine collections for property division, damage evaluation and insurance purposes prior to a move. Also, although it’s somewhat rare since wine collectors are hesitant to discuss counterfeits, Edgerton is called in from time to time as a wine gumshoe: He identifies fraudulent bottles.
As the lone accredited member of the American Society of Appraisers with a specialty in wine, and as the creator of the first comprehensive guide to wine auction prices called “indispensable” by Christie’s, his expertise is in high demand, but Edgerton nevertheless charges a reasonable rate. He will also evaluate less expensive bottles for a drastically reduced fee, if not for free. Sources report that Edgerton is pleasant to work with, a master of his trade, and more than able to recommend a good wine to go with dinner.
