FR Review:
Richard Zook runs a very versatile shop with six employees, taking on large and small jobs. Using computer design software, the firm can narrow down conceptual ideas into precise drawings that dazzle clients. A typical batch of projects includes a library in Manhattan Beach, a large house in Venice Beach and law offices, all at once. For larger projects, Zook prefers to have a designer attached, but he will work directly with a homeowner.

Zook got his start crafting the woodwork of boat interiors, but soon moved on to cabinetry and furniture. Hired by some top-flight interior designers, Zook carved out a niche in high-end residential projects. Today Zook's specialty is said to be creating custom entertainment consoles and pop-up mechanical TV cabinets, though some reports say he's also fantastic with furniture.

Clients tell us Zook won't let something leave the shop unless it's perfect, and that he works well under deadline. Zook himself splits his time between the field and the shop, and is backed by a foreman who has been with the company since its beginning. Much of the firm's work encompasses the West LA area, but it has completed projects in Hawaii, New Mexico and New York City. The firm proves to be on the more expensive side, due to its painstaking attention to detail.

Representative Client Comments:
"Amiable and pleasant to work with." "One of the old-timers in the business, really knows what he is doing." "Excellent quality." "Super busy but worth the wait."
