FR Review:
We hear the J. Alexander Company can design on the fly and put your home on the fast-track to completion. However, ambitious scheduling and meticulous management does not mean a compromise in quality. J. Alexander specializes in tear-down/ground-up custom homes, and renovations. Projects range from $60,000 additions to $4.5 million-dollar homes, and an occasional $30 million-dollar estate. The firm looks for clients who are interested in executing inspired design, which does not necessarily mean high-concept contemporary looks. While past clients have summoned J. Alexander from as far away as Israel in a management capacity, most of the firm's work is clustered around the South Bay, Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills and West LA.
Principal John Schoenfeld has an architecture degree and twenty-plus years of experience in high-end residential building. In addition to being on the same wavelength with other design professionals, his experience as a developer has him thinking like a homeowner. Superintendents run day-to-day operations on the job site, and all trades are subbed. Clients say the firm runs a tight, harmonious ship. Contracts are mostly negotiated and cost plus.
Representative Client Comments:
"Watching my house go up, it was like fast-forward. The whole thing just flew by." "He's talented, easy to work with and very, very helpful." "He made our house wonderful." "We had an architect, but you can let John loose on ideas. He knows all the materials." "There was no one else."
