Established in 1948 by brothers Sam and John Biren, the firm has built a reputation for doing it all—selling and installing wall-to-wall carpets, area rugs, hardwood, vinyl, linoleum, laminate, rubber and cork floors. Today, the next generation of Birens, Eric and Evan, man the shop, ensuring that their seven full-time employees and subcontracted installers uphold the family standard of quality.
The licensed, bonded and insured firm caters to a primarily residential clientele in West LA, with most of its business coming from homes within a five mile radius of the showroom (i.e. Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Malibu and the San Fernando Valley), but some projects take the crew to Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and San Diego. The company has also installed floors at LACMA and the Getty Museum. Prices for floors are determined by square footage, and by the square yard for carpets, with a flat minimum for small jobs.
