FR Review:
Interior designers and architects describe Isabelle Greene's landscapes with one word: exquisite. Emphasizing native plants and sustainable designs, Greene has been transforming residential, commercial and institutional landscapes since 1964. The firm oversees the installation and support of its creations, and Greene is known to maintain close personal relationships with her clients.
Though most of Greene's projects are in California, she has worked all over the country. Her landscapes, designed in close collaboration with the project architect, are reputed to honor the character of each individual site. Greene's belief that design is a very small part of a larger whole brings an environmentally sensitive element to her work.
The granddaughter of Henry Mather Greene, an early pioneer of the Craftsman movement in Southern California, Greene has a natural eye for detail and proportion that is informed by decades of experience. She holds a bachelor's degree in botany from UCLA, and she also studied art extensively at the University of California Santa Barbara. References report her knowledge of drought-tolerant plants is unparalleled and her original and practical designs require little upkeep. Design, management and support fees for the small five-person firm are charged by the hour. The company's impressive resume includes the master planning for the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens, as well as residential projects ranging from $15,000 to $1 million. Greene's work has been published in House & Garden, Vogue Decoration and House Beautiful.
Representative Client Comments:
