FR Review:
Kim Amann and her team at Casa Linda have won the hearts and souls of clients by delivering an excellent product, from top-to-bottom, with no fuss. From the massive gut renovation of the Judy Garland estate in Scarsdale to a modest kitchen in Bronxville to the complete interior outfitting of a large new home in Greenwich, the firm is lauded for its handsome, practical rooms and effective project management skills. Recent other clients include the Winged Foot Golf Club, the Larchmont Shore Club and the Elm Street Oyster House restaurant in Greenwich.

Amann started Casa Linda in 1999, after gaining a degree from NYSID, and several years at a home renovation collaborative in Philly and at Bloomingdale's Shop at Home. Her energy is contagious, with Amann directing all the interior design work and also eliminating much of the need for either a separate contractor or architect. The staff of five is said to be highly capable and knowledgeable. Recently moving to their new location in Scarsdale, the showroom features several lines of custom cabinetry, lighting, tile, countertops and appliances for a one-stop shop.

Given the firm's multiple roles, clients report a very coordinated process and lower overall fees. There are small up-front design fees, Standard hourly design and shopping fees, and product is purchased at 25 percent of list retail. Clients are effusive in their praise of Casa Linda.

Representative Client Comments:
"Meeting Kim was the most fortunate thing that happened to us on this project. We went from disorder, confusion and fiscal rape to clarity and order." "I can not come up with words positive enough to describe Kim's contributions to our renovation." "Not only did Kim do her job well but she found and managed all the subs, who were also excellent." "Kim always managed to find a better way, and usually at a lower cost."

Project Description & Comments:
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN CASA LINDA! We walked by the showroom one day last fall and saw a beautifully designed kitchen. We were about to renovate our kitchen, and since we live in Larchmont we decided to give our business to this local establishment. We came to sorely regret this decision. After the cabinets were ordered there were too many problems and headaches. Weeks after ordering the custom made cabinets, we discovered that Casa Linda had measured incorrectly and instead of enlarging our kitchen, were making it smaller. Luckily, we (not Casa Linda) caught this error, and were able to figure out a way to correct it by adding an extra cabinet (of course that added many weeks to the project). The biggest problem was with the installation. The installer is related to the owner and his company did a sloppy job - including ruining two of the custom made cabinets by drilling holes in the wrong side. Those cabinets had to be reordered and since they were a custom color, that took many weeks to replace, further delaying the project. Among other things, nail holes and seams were never properly touched up. Casa Linda was extremely defensive and refused to acknowledge most of the issues. There are usually delays in construction, but we put a large addition on our house 15 years ago, which was completed faster than this kitchen job! Regrettably, we cannot recommend using Casa Linda for kitchen renovation.
        Cost of Project: $10,001 - 50,000
