Roundly regarded among the best in her class, Barnes’ strengths lie in her versatility, professionalism and ability to form long-standing and rewarding relationships with clients. She began her interior design firm in 1993 after returning stateside from London, where she helped to expand Ralph Lauren in Europe. Once her own home was featured in British House & Garden, the calls for her design advice never ceased.
Barnes’ design office takes on about eight projects at one time, all with full budgets and all given utmost care and attention. Smaller, single-room projects are also welcome. A standard design fee is taken at the outset of a project, along with reasonable markups on purchases. Recent projects include two young families' apartments on Park Avenue, a family camp in the Adirondacks, a Florida bungalow, a Greenwich townhouse and various primary and secondary residences in West- chester and Fairfield.
On each project, product and budget are carefully considered. Barnes has spent her career cultivating vendor relationships, visiting auctions and working closely with antiques dealers to bring her clients the highest quality within their means. Barnes’ extensive industry experience has made her a trusted name in comfortable and refined living that clients return to again and again. By taking her client’s individual tastes and lifestyles into consideration, Barnes consistently delivers a tailored fusion of contemporary pieces and traditional antiques that is a bit modern without sacrificing longevity.
