FR Review:
Clients are enchanted with T. Keller Donovan for his good humor, livable interiors and traditional design sensibility infused with flashes of contemporary whimsy. He favors crisp lines, comfortable furniture and geometric shapes. Mixing all-American traditional silhouettes in dashing colors with sleek and beguiling counterpoints is a favorite, but he can also do classic traditional with fresh appeal.
Donovan studied at Parsons and then held apprenticeships with Barbara D'Arcy, Tom O'Toole and David Easton. Starting his own firm in 1977, consistently a large part of his clientele has been based in the suburbs. He is known to be resourceful, with an eye toward economical solutions, successfully mixing Hyde Park or Pottery Barn with clients' existing furnishings. He also enjoys finding wonderful objects in Europe. Donovan does everything himself and would, according to his many supporters, have it no other way, focusing intensely on client service. He can start with just a few rooms or coordinate an extensive renovation.
The firm works with a design fee and a Reasonable markup over net on products. Living rooms can be in the $70,000 arena. References say Donovan is very professional in his business dealings and is a good listener. Even other decorators say they would happily hire him.
