Sources call Bruce McInnes of the Tree Care Consultancy of New York "The King of Trees." After working for a tree maintenance company in the 1970s, McInnes started his firm in the 1980s when it became impossible to "get advice that wasn't tied to a buzzsaw." McInnes offers consultations on "trees and tree issues." He is also a member of the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA).
Though much of his work involves overseeing tree rescue, McInnes works with landscape architects or retail clients, advising on overall design or the installation of attractive site-appropriate trees. He also performs site analysis and sets up proper tree maintenance programs for his clients. McInnes will visit a site in Manhattan for $160 to $200. He then charges an hourly rate of $75 to $80. "I try to be available for any tree situation," McInnes says. References verify that he more than meets that objective. However, if a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears, we wonder: Where's Bruce McInnes?
