Dick Smith Air Conditioning has been around almost as long as Palm Beach has had air conditioning: since 1958. President William Smith (son of founder Dick Smith) grew up in the business, starting as a driver in 1971 and finally taking the reins in 1996. As such, he runs a staff of eighteen with what clients call a "passionate" dedication to the way things should be done. This entails a large amount of custom metalwork, top-of-the-line equipment, and an almost persnickety attention to details that other companies would just as soon ignore. Smith says he will walk away from a job if he doesn't think he can do it right.
Dick Smith AC primarily takes on residential work with a focus on new installation, but it also maintains a robust service and repair department. Clients report receiving the company's full attention whether calling about a strange clicking noise coming out of the vents or a multi-million dollar construction project. The vast majority of this company's work is done in Palm Beach County. However, choice custom projects (especially those involving landmarked property, a specialty of the firm) can lure William Smith and Co. as far out as the Keys. Almost by definition, Dick Smith AC's quotes are not going to be the lowest out there. Nevertheless, references say the peace of mind is worth the price.
