FR Review:
Homeowners across the U.S. who take the plunge with artist and custom pool mosaic designer and installer Sergio Furnari are rewarded with “visually stunning” designs where “seeing is believing.” With a surname that means “the people who attend the oven,” Furnari seemed destined for the kiln since birth. He attended art school, focusing on ceramics, while also working at the Caltagirone Sculpting Foundry, where he fine-tuned his skills on the job. In 1991, following his fascination with New York, Furnari moved to the U.S. and continued to develop his art. Currently, he is best known for his sculpture “Lunchtime on a Skyscraper,” which was installed at Ground Zero for five months during the 9/11 rescue operation.
Over the last five years, Furnari has focused squarely on custom pool designs that feature imported Italian porcelain tile, which he personally paints and fires with a beautiful glazed finish. His five employees have been with him for years and are said to be both “incredible craftsmen" and sticklers about the prep work.
While a typical project is a pool 30’ x 15’, Furnari will take on anything from a 10’ x 10’ insert to a surface of more than 1,600 square feet for the world’s largest swimming pool in Dubai. Prices for these “one of a kind works of art” range from $20,000 to upwards of $350,000, including a lifetime warranty for Furnari’s work. We hear that you “have to be patient” as Furnari maintains a singular focus, one job at a time, but that “the result will leave you awestruck.”
