FR Review:
True to its name, Endurance has stood the test of time. Established in 1956 by Lynn and Marjorie Gustin, the firm started out as a small mom-and-pop operation servicing a few local homes. It was purchased in 1968 by Eugene Knupp and in 1984, ownership was passed to Knupp's daughter and to then-Vice-President Lenny Hall. In 1999, Hall took over as president of the company, a position he still holds. Starting out as an installer in 1981, he trained mostly with Knupp, becoming a lead man only three years later.

Known for their intricate, handmade medallions, inlays and borders, Endurance installs, sands and finishes hardwood floors for a strictly upscale residential clientele. The company work mostly with architects, contractors, builders, interior designers and, occasionally, directly with the homeowner. Proficient at both traditional and contemporary designs, Hall and his team are also masters at Mix Media-- the process of embedding wood with stone, steel, metal, leather, onyx, marble and leather inserts. The majority of the firm's business lies in new installations, and refinishing projects are done only on work they have installed or on existing floors five years old or older.

Pricing is by the job, with minimums starting at $4,000 for installations. Typical projects run from $38,000 and can go up to $200,000. Endurance serves clients in Palm Beach, Miami, Boca Raton, Aventura, Key Largo, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Pine Crest, and as far away as Aruba, South Carolina, and Bermuda.

Blessed with both business savvy and technical know-how, Hall is very hands-on. Sources tell us he runs a tight ship. With a staff of 22 full-time employees comprised of sanders, finishers and installers, Endurance does all of its work in-house at the firm's 3,000 square foot workshop. The showroom is open to the public. Although Hall spends most of his time running the business these days, we are told that he is "more than capable of making a medallion." Hall sits on the board of the NWFA, speaks at NWFA conferences and is on the technical faculty of the NWFA school. Endurance Floor Company is a member of the NWFA and ASID. Its work has been featured in Hardwood Floors Magazine, Floor Covering Weekly and Regina Cole's book "Creating Style From The Ground Up." The firm has also won the NWFA's Floor Of The Year award four times.
