FR Review:
A fortuitous apprenticeship with one of Florida's top design firms introduced Larry Abbate to the field of restoration. Since 1997, Larry Abbate's Restoration has developed into a company that refurbishes and repairs furniture, in addition to designing and building custom pieces. The breadth of Abbate's talents has led to myriad projects, but the company stays true to its name and the team of seven has revived all kinds of furniture, from antique to contemporary.
From the measurements to the installation, Abbate helps with all aspects of the job; we’re told that there's "nothing he can’t do." In addition to creating custom furniture, Abbate's firm has hung mirrors and artwork for clients ranging from private collections to the Norton Museum of Art. Abbate also has fixed damaged picture frames, remolding and gilding the plaster so that “you couldn’t tell it had been broken.” He has even built sets for road and fashion shows.
Abbate's employees handle refurbishing themselves, though Abbate will employ subcontractors for some of his bigger projects. Costs can fluctuate depending on the project but are considered very reasonable and "worth every bit." Abate sticks to the decided price, and his estimates are free. While he generally stays within Palm Beach, he has traveled on behest of a designer and has journeyed all the way to Manhattan to aid in the installation of his custom-built furniture.
