Knockout Renovation offers clients an enticing proposition: let them take care of everything. A veteran contracting firm, the company offers a concierge-like “all-in-one” service that simplifies the process while delivering results on time and on budget. Based around a design/build model, Knockout projects are overseen by designer/project managers who shepherd renovations from A to Z, whether that’s shopping for tile with clients or making sure the cleaning crew polishes every surface. Somewhat uniquely, in addition to its in-house trade work, Knockout is a dealer for major appliances (Smeg, Miele, etc.), meaning clients don’t have to deal with the delay and cost of going elsewhere. To back it all up, the firm has an “on-time guarantee,” meaning the client is refunded a portion of the budget if the target date isn’t met (spoiler alert: the target date is usually met).

In business since 1992, Knockout focuses on Manhattan and a few pockets of Brooklyn; over the years it has executed countless renovations of all stripes (from guts to one-off kitchens) and is said to “truly know the way the city works.” “Knowledgeable, attentive” principal Keith Steier oversees a staff of fifty, handling roughly fifteen projects at a time (a good industry ratio). Sources say prices are extremely reasonable considering the excellent quality. Knockout’s itemized budgeting system (clients see a list of every item and its associated cost) and its progress-based invoicing (clients don’t get charged until punchlist items are completed) also earn praise. A direct replacement kitchen starts at $40,000, and budgets go up from there. Overall, Knockout is said to be a great option, especially for busy New Yorkers who want a streamlined path to a beautiful home.

Full two bedroom apartment renovation: overhauled the bathroom, kitchen and patio. Knockout also installed hardwood flooring and painted the entire apartment. Knockout is a full service renovation company. From design to execution -- they even completed the renovation application required by our COOP board. They use licensed electricians and plumbers. Their workers are very knowledgable and experienced and are some of the best organized in the business. In terms of customer service, they are the best. Keith, Knockout's principal, takes customer care and professionalism seriously. They stand by their work and back it up by providing the longest warranty in the business! And they really care about customer satisfaction. How many contractors can one say that about?

Go with this crew - you will find if you work with them and help out, i.e. dealing with Co Op boards here and there - they will handle the paperwork with the city, make arrangements and importantly show up on time when they say they will -takes time in the city to get things done and they know how to do it.
