Summary of Comments:
Clients have big things to say about this small company. Praising founder Douglas Bialor as "professional" and "dependable," The Hat Factory's elite clientele assure us that this firm is a one-stop-shop for all their kitchen, cabinet, and furniture needs. The Hat Factory was founded in 1999 by Bialor, whose hobby of furniture building has lead to a company with a staff of four dedicated to producing only the highest quality woodwork. We hear that this firm prides itself as being focused on detail and that each piece is individually customized to meet the clients specific requirements. This company primarily works with homeowners in New York City and Westchester, but also does a limited amount of commercial projects, like a city restaurant that relies on The Hat Factory for its "expert" repairs. Billing is typically done per project, and free estimates are given over the phone. While some sources say the prices can get steep, the effort put into each piece makes it "well worth it." From classic to modern designs, from full kitchen units to small pieces of customized furniture, there's no project that The Hat Factory can't master.
Client Comments:
“The Hat Factory has demonstrated time and time again that they are in a class equal to the highest standards of quality workmanship.” “Their attention to detail is inspiring and their execution of the installation is perfect.“ “This company must be commended for its work.” “These guys are top notch!” “Highest quality and they stand by their work.” “I highly recommend using them.” “The Hat Factory is our only source for quality furniture manufacturing, repairs and refinishing.” “The Hat Factory Team led by Doug delivered a beautiful custom kitchen.” “Doug was helpful every step of the way, from wood selection to placement of the door knobs.” “Any glitches along the way were handled professionally and in a timely manner.” “The installation crew was professional, precise, and tidy.” “The Hat Factory is the only custom cabinetry company I'll use. We are already starting our second project with them.”

Project Description & Comments:
I hired Doug Bialor and his Hat Factory company to do several items, including a TV unit and shelves, a butler's pantry, a bedroom dresser, and a bathroom cabinet and mirror.
Doug's workmanship and professionalism was fantastic. The quality of his work is of the highest nature. The pricing is high but relative to the level of the high quality, I believe the value one gets is enviable and the price is reasonable.
The most impressive thing about Doug is that he really cares about his work, and making sure everything fits and is perfect. As a fellow perfectionist who cares about his work, this really impressed me. Doug came back a couple times to tweak a door so that the fit went from 99.5% to 99.9999%.
I strongly recommend Doug for your next millwork project or piece of furniture.

Project Description & Comments:
he Hat Factory has demonstrated time and time again that they are in a class equal to the highest standards of quality workmanship. There attention to detail is inspiring and there execution of the installation is perfect. The Hat Factory has designed furniture to our specifications refining the design until functional and practical. They have also been involved in repairs to our teak woods that needed expert matching of grain and color. Doug Bialor, owner of the Hat Factory, made the final product indistingishable from the original woods in all aspects. Consequently, the Hat Factory is our only source for quality furniture manufacturing, repairs and refinishing.

Project Description & Comments:
The Hat Factory Team led by Doug delivered a beautiful custom kitchen. Doug was helpful every step of the way, from wood selection to placement of the door knobs. Any glitches along the way were handled professionally and in a timely manner. The installation crew was professional, precise, and tidy. The Hat Factory is the only custom cabinetry company I'll use. We are already starting our second project with them.

Bottom Line:
I'd never use anyone else. I already recommended Doug to neighbors and friends. THEY asked me!
Project Description & Comments:
I had no idea what I wanted in a large one bedroom apartment in Manhattan, but knew I needed a lot more storage, display space, and to rip out some shelving which was low-end built-ins done by a closet company. I'd always wanted to live in a pre-war apartment in Manhattan but after almost 30 years, I gave up. I told Doug "just help me feel like I live on Park Avenue." I now have three long walls in my living room and dining room which are fit for a Queen and her 'stuff.' I am so thrilled with the job he did, and all the nifty tricks my units can do. I even have pocket doors for often-used office equipment and bar area. I have high hat lighting over a buffet area which goes on at the wave of the hand over a motion sensor with 3 levels of "dimmer." I have tall double-door glass cabinets, deep double cabinets, drawers galore for platters and trays, and long deep legal sized file cabinets. Drawers glide as if on air and doors hang perfectly. I even asked him to do a long window valance with matching moldings and he did that too. The mouldings are gorgeous everywhere I look. Doug even advised me on my window treatments, ideas for a new writing desk so not to clash with the wall units, and even the new paint job that the rest of the apartment should take. // I couldn't be happier with the job Doug and Hat Factory Furniture did for me ! I can't sing his praises loud enough, and -- with the job only finishing last week-- have not even done so in person (yet) to this extent, so thank you for the opportunity to tell him this way.
