This designer’s recent projects include a multi-level Century City town house as well as a tri-level Sunset Strip penthouse.
What began as a nondescript 1970’s beige and white “human filing cabinet”, the town house was elegantly transformed into an updated version of a 1920’s Parisian Deco Salon. The client’s zest for collecting quality Deco furniture, art, and accessories gave the project its inspiration and direction.
While at the other extreme, David’s approach to the penthouse was to pay homage to the sleek architectural elements of glass, steel, and plaster, that cut through the three floors like a well sharpened cleaver, with the introduction of sleek architectural cabinetry, glass tiles, and custom steel elements. He then softened it all by toning down the stark white walls and ceilings with the use of deep saturation of color, with fine woven rugs and rich hand painted velvets. Then by juxtaposing well worn antiques and ethnic artifacts against contemporary upholstery, window treatments, and artwork he created an eclectic composition that leaves the space feeling neither cluttered nor sparse. A definite modern approach with a touch of classism.
