FR Review:
Margaret Moore designs spaces that are chic, handsome, and carefully edited. There is rarely a single "wow" piece: the room itself is the wow piece. Often working with cool California blues and natural browns, her interiors have a natural elegance that never feels stuffy or forced. Clients praise their collaborations with Moore as "timeless," often mentioning that, five years after the fact, their friends think the house was just designed. Though Midcentury Modern is certainly a frequent point of reference, clients say Moore has successfully pulled off various eras (including Deco and traditional) with aplomb. Whatever the style, the look is carefully tailored, and clutter is banished.
Originally from Alabama, Moore has put in serious time on both coasts. She began her career working for several commercial architecture firms in Washington DC, then moved up to New York to work with Pamela Banker and Eve Robinson on interior design projects. She struck out on her own in 2002, moved to LA for a large project, and has called it home ever since. Clients respond favorably to her resume, saying that Moore blends the various elements of her background into a well-balanced whole that never feels "too California" or "too East Coast."
Moore also scores high marks on process. Her background in commercial architecture, clients say, is a boon, especially when dealing with unruly contractors. Clients don't deny that Moore generally prefers to choose the best materials and high quality pieces whenever possible. They are quick to add, however that she is upfront about all budget issues and there are "no surprises." She charges a standard markup on product and a separate commission on construction oversight (if the job calls for it). Above all, clients say working with Moore is "way more fun than it should be" and that they recommend her unequivocally.
