Founder Melanie Charlton first sends in a team to take an inventory of a client’s possessions, then tailors the closet design to the individual. With a small in-house staff of architects, editors and stylists, Charlton orchestrates the organizational process—from inventory to design to installation. The firm prides itself on installing only custom-made closets–“no prefabricated stuff.”
For its primarily residential clientele, Clos-ette’s projects range from an “inexpensive” $15,000 closet to an extensive $1.5 million project. The detail-oriented Charlton works with textile and fabric specialists, a metallurgist and craftsmen who can handle all species of wood. The company has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times, InStyle, Gotham, and The London Times, to name a few. From elegant, traditional designs to high-tech security closets with ocular recognition capability, Clos-ette promises to make the whole installation and organizational process a “painless experience”–and for those who can afford it, the final results are “extraordinary.”
