From concept to development, Victoria Benatar draws inspiration from her clients' ideas and from the latest trends in the market. Her style has been described as eclectic yet "comfortable and practical," with a penchant for the neutral tones and clean lines of the modern aesthetic. However, she has also taken on a number of more traditional projects; if a client's taste tends toward the classic, so does Benatar's focus. She is said to improve each client's quality of life by closely analyzing his or her lifestyle patterns and preferences in order to create a design that fits his or her needs. Benatar established her firm in 1983. She completed her undergraduate degree in her native Venezuela and received an M.S. from Columbia University in architecture and urban design. She is also accredited as a LEED professional. Approximately 80 percent of her projects are residential commissions, including complete apartment and home renovations. The majority of Benatar's work takes place in Manhattan and Florida, with several noteworthy projects completed in Spain and Venezuela, and plans to expand globally.
Benatar's aim is to increase a property's value. With that in mind, she also offers full interior design services and consultations that include furnishing, eco-friendly options, color scheming, and space utilization. Benatar’s projects range from single-room redecorating to large-scale gut renovations costing upwards of $5 million. Her slightly higher-than-average fees are a combination of an hourly rate and a percentage over construction costs (depending on the nature of the work), but clients say that her expertise and efficiency more than make up for the differential.
