This “remarkably talented” painter gained a foothold in the market by specializing in “bold, beautiful and breathtaking” painted floors. A RISD grad with an MFA in painting from Indiana University, and a former illustrator for The New Yorker, Adam Lowenbein possesses superior skill at an array of techniques including Venetian plaster, murals, gilding, ceilings, trompe l’oeil, gold-and silver-leaf and a compendium of unique glazes. His painted floors, including Martha Stewart’s, have adorned the pages of The World of Interiors, Veranda, House and Garden, Elle Decor, House Beautiful and the “Diamond Baratta Design” book. Clients are quick to comment on Lowenbein’s “strong and unequivocal sense of color” noting that he makes confident choices while still catering to their stylistic sensibilities.
Alongside his modest-sized team of artists, Lowenbein only takes on two projects at a time, preferring a more focused approach. We hear they are courteous, clean and consummate professionals. Projects typically range from a $2,000 single-day job to $25,000 for a “floors on up.” The firm has also done full houses consisting of sixteen rooms and reaching upwards of $300,000. While Manhattan is his main stomping ground, Lowenbein has done projects all along the East Coast and will travel westward—particularly to LA and Utah—for the right project.
