FR Review:
If you're an adult taking up squash to have fun and stay fit or a teen with collegiate aspirations, Pyramid Squash is an ideal facility with the highest level of coaching and a vibrant squash community. Members hail from Westchester, NYC and Connecticut as Pyramid is adjacent to the Tuckahoe train station, a stop on the Harlem Line out of Grand Central. Pyramid Squash has the atmosphere of a family club both in membership and leadership as Head Pro Gamal Amir (formerly the 28th best player in the world) of Cairo, Egypt and his wife Katje (currently on the WISPA tour and previous squash coach at The Hackley School) run the club together. Gamal and Katje have been living in Westchester since 1999, focusing on their passion, coaching squash. Gamal employs two additional full-time coaches at Pyramid so clients are guaranteed personalized instruction in lessons and clinics.

Pyramid boasts four beautiful international courts, two expansive locker rooms with shower facilities, a large fitness room for off-court training and a fully equipped snack bar (insiders tip: the smoothies are amazing!). Parking is conveniently located on the ground level of the building, so even in busy Tuckahoe you don't need to worry about finding a spot or checking your meter. Pyramid is conveniently open as early as 6 am and as late as 9 pm Mondays through Thursdays so adults can get in some squash during the work week. One new program that's been receiving attention is a special Sunday clinic where adults get to play amongst themselves while their young children take a group lesson with a pro the next court over. The cost of membership and lessons at Pyramid is high, but only as high as the quality of coaching. Private lessons and group lessons are available, as are camps for children. Additionally, Gamal offers an incredible annual month-long teen tour to Egypt.

Gamal's 2 week summer tour on Egypt is available for teenagers of any squash level. Players visit Cairo and Alexandria and both play squash with local players and pros and sightsee. Players train at local clubs with some of the best professional players in the world. In Alexandria the group stays at a hotel right on the beach and spends hours relaxing on the beach in between training sessions. Sight seeing includes visiting the pyramids, going on a dinner cruise of the Nile River, swimming in the Red Sea as well as visits to museums and camel and horseback riding through the desert.

Gamal's connections in the Egyptian squash world help him attract world-class talent. Pyramid hosted a WSA Professional Tournament in January of 2010 and Gamal regularly invites highly ranked pros to stop by Pyramid to give lessons and play with members as they're touring the East Coast. Gamal and Pyramid Squash have produced some of America's top junior and collegiate players. Gamal shaped the games of players currently on the teams at Yale University, Williams College, Hamilton College, Bates College, Middlebury College, Amherst College, Dartmouth College and Brown University.

Pyramid Squash is an incredible facility with world-class coaching that's created an unparalleled squash community in Westchester. Pyramid is the perfect place to improve your game and have fun! In the words of Gamal Amir, "Squash is music."
