FR Review:
Andrew Flesher’s interiors achieve a rare balance: they manage to be both serene and lively at once. Calm, thoughtful architectural planning sets the stage, then Flesher works with clients to assemble a harmonious balance of furnishings and accessories. The look, a kind of tailored eclecticism, is hard to pigeonhole: you’ll see contemporary design boutique pieces alongside classic midcentury furniture, even occasional Asian statuary, all carefully placed within an architecturally pure setting. One consistent element: clients love the result, which they describe as “timeless,” “elegant” and “my style, but better."
Unsurprisingly for a designer with a canny architectural sense, Flesher began his career studying architecture (at the University of Minnesota). After graduating, he immediately turned around and got a degree in interior design from the same school. Eventually Flesher moved to Minneapolis and joined up with veteran designer Tom Gunkelman, soon becoming partner and helping to guide the firm to local prominence. In 2008, he opened his own office in New York, still tackling occasional projects in Minneapolis. Though Flesher is now officially an East Coaster, clients praise his Midwestern work ethic and often refer to how easy and down-to-Earth he is to work with. Flesher’s services are not cheap, he charges a markup on the higher side of standard plus an hourly. However, the firm, clients say, is one of the most professional they’ve ever worked with, and the consensus is that Flesher’s fee is money well spent.
