FR Review:
Slate NYC is a one-stop shop for dry cleaning, tailoring and housekeeping services that are flexible and reasonably priced. Slate is the brainchild of Mexico City transplant Miguel Zabludovsky, who started the company in 2005 as a laundry and dry cleaning service after noticing a dearth of high-quality and eco-friendly delivery services catering to New York City's prominent clotheshorse population. Slate has since expanded its services to include tailoring and housekeeping.

Slate provides straightforward service by charging a flat rate and offering online scheduling. For laundry and dry cleaning services, customers receive a hamper to fill, with the option of either paying per article or paying a flat $150 for "all they can fit" in, no sorting necessary. The hamper is then picked up, the clothes are cleaned and everything is promptly returned via FedEx. For housekeeping, customers pay a fixed rate depending on the size of the apartment. The current rate for a two-bedroom apartment is $79, which includes eco-friendly cleaning supplies.

A growing company, we hear that Slate is still ironing out some kinks of its own. Some customers have had mix-ups with laundry and dry cleaning deliveries, while some apartment cleaners are deemed "less thorough" than others (a system of trial and error may be necessary to find a cleaner you like, who may then be requested for all future cleanings). However, management is considered very "responsive" when it comes to dealing with any potential issues, and comments/questions/concerns are typically responded to within 24 hours.

Representative Client Comments:
"I use them for my dry cleaning and housekeeping and have always been very satisfied." "One of Slate's strong points is their good customer service--they have been quick to respond to any questions or concerns that I've had in the past." "They could improve on the overall standards of their housekeeping crew, as the new cleaner they sent me wasn't as good as the last one." "They've been flexible with my travel schedule." "I've fit up to fifty dress shirts in the $150 flat fee laundry bag." "I recommend them to friends."
