Peter Aaron is a top architectural photographer known for his cinematic, polished style and skillful accentuation of a structure's bones. His primary goal is to "capture the platonic ideal of what an architect is trying to portray," which he does by balancing wide angle views with a number of more intimate detail shots. Architects, like Robert A.M. Stern and Alexander Gorlin, make up the majority of Aaron's clientele, but he also specializes in portraying an interior designer's handiwork. In fact, residential interiors are among Aaron's favorite jobs, as he loves styling and playing with light. The clients we spoke with say that Aaron is not only a perfect professional, but also personable and easy to work with.
Aaron completed a graduate degree in cinematography but always gravitated toward photography. Upon deciding to focus on architectural photography professionally, Aaron was hired as an assistant to famed photographer Ezra Stoller, whom he honed his technique under for two years. Aaron has remained specialized on architectural photography for over 25 years and his pictures grace numerous shelter magazine covers.
Aaron's prices are high-end. His base day fee is $3,600; $4,000 including an assistant and basic touch ups. The clients we spoke with consider Aaron's fees commensurate with his expertise and recommend him highly. Aaron is a particularly good choice for capturing complex, intriguing architecture and when a building's structure and decor need to be documented simultaneously.
