FR Review:
We hear third-generation antiques dealer Michael Capo belongs to that rare breed of appraiser, the consummate professional who knows everything but is incapable of condescension. Backed by a lifetime of experience (his father was an art dealer) and educated at NYU and Oxford, Capo appraises antique furniture, paintings, silver and decorative art for clients as prestigious as the White House and the Brooklyn Museum. He has also testified as an expert witness in both high- and low-profile cases.
Clients have the highest regard for Capo's work. Many customers have maintained a professional working relationship with him for decades––and several of the top auction houses have him on their "recommend" list, as do several blue chip interior design firms. Capo charges a substantial per-hour fee with a minimum, plus traveling expenses. He is a former board member of the Appraisers Association of America and has been an adjunct professor at both New York University and the New School for Social Research. He is also a member of the Arms & Armor Club.
Representative Client Comments:
"A real gentleman." "We always refer our clients to Mr. Capo." "Doesn't turn his nose up at anything, loves hunting up a hidden treasure in a pile of junk." "His work is impeccable." "He has an auction business now, so doesn't take on as many new appraisal clients. Consider yourself lucky if you can book him." "Worked with him for over twenty years--that's how much we respect him." "Friendly, charming and smart - great to work with."
