FR Review:
B & J Fabrics is great for high-end fabrics and well-suited to customers who are willing to pay more for an exceptionally organized layout. While most fabric stores require sifting through a myriad of bolts, B & J displays most of its fabric in sample sizes hung from a series of racks, which makes browsing not only easy, but "downright enjoyable." Furthermore, the shop's pristine white walls, floors and cutting tables nicely frame the bold and colorful silk, lace, tweed and novelty fabrics that B & J is known for. It is also a good source for trendy prints, such as Ikat or Batik, and the mood boards displayed throughout the shop are a good source for inspiration.

B & J remains family owned and is staffed by knowledgeable salespeople, many of whom have been there for years. Serious and repeat customers tend to receive prompt, courteous treatment, whereas those less intent on buying or requiring multiple swatches have been known to encounter some indifference. Prices are recommended as "expensive" but a "good value" when considering the quality and user-friendly layout. Most fabrics cost between $20 and $80 a yard, but go all the way up to $310 a yard for novelty fabrics like feathered chiffon.

Representative Client Comments:
"Great place for serious sewers who know their fabrics." "One of NYC's nicest fabric stores and I've always found their staff helpful." "They have one of the most extensive Liberty of London selections I've seen." "I used to love digging around fabric shops, but now that I'm older, I really appreciate the orderliness and cleanliness at B & J."
