FR Review:
Erika Bloom Pilates is tailored to those who like things tailored to them: sessions are private or duet, individualized to the client's physique and can even take place in the client's own home (though we hear that the UES studio is "beautifully sleek" and "serene"). Teachings at Erika Bloom focus on maintaining a "neutral spine" and Pilates enthusiasts will notice a departure from the more structurally rigid Classical approach created by Joseph Pilates. Other wellness services complement this highly individualized approach, and we hear that Erika Bloom is also popular for yoga, Thai yoga massage and its extensive pre- and postnatal offerings. This is a good studio for those looking for "in-depth" and "ongoing" guidance with a holistic approach.
Owner Erika Bloom has been teaching Pilates for over ten years and practicing it for over twenty. Like many Pilates instructors, she was a former dancer, performing internationally with ballet and modern dance companies for nearly a decade. Bloom and the rest of her staff have all completed mat and apparatus certification, along with a slew of other certifications focused on health and wellness. The steady flow of regulars fill the appointment-only slots rather quickly, and reservations are recommended at least 24 hours in advance. The hour-long sessions start at $110, placing Erika Bloom in line with other high-end, private-session studios in the city.
Representative Client Comments:
"Great pilates in a nice space." "Elizabeth and Nicole are fabulous." "They're located right on Madison Ave and you could even do sessions in Central Park if you wanted to." "Remarkable attention to customer service." "They understand what a woman's body goes through during pregnancy."
