Tracie Martyn is the secret weapon of women (and men) who eschew surgical measures but still want "amazingly clear, taught skin." The posh Union Square spa is especially famous for its Resculpting Facial, which firms the skin via mild electric currents and is said to "knock several years off for several days" and "keep gravity in check." The depuffing and wrinkle-reducing Red Carpet Facial is a clear winner for those with big events on the horizon, including celebrities like Kate Winslet, Brad Pitt and Diane von Furstenberg.
The British-born Martyn got her start as a makeup artist in fashion and segued into skin care once models like Kate Moss and Linda Evangelista started knocking on her door for pre-catwalk beauty treatments. Sessions with Martyn herself are quickly booked and astronomically priced ($500+), but appointments with one of her aestheticians are more easy to come by. For most, treatments here are the ultimate in self indulgence and only a very "once-in-a-while" luxury.
