FR Review:
The next time you find yourself strapped for a last-minute birthday or hostess gift, head to Jo Malone for a heavenly-scented candle or hand cream in "orange blossom" or "white jasmine & mint." Either of these will last much longer than flowers, and the scents are based on a rich line of colognes that manage to "fill a room" without "overpowering the senses." Malone scents are unisex and meant to be layered, which can make gifting the actual spray colognes somewhat difficult, but selecting other products is a breeze. Tell one of the undeniably friendly and knowledgeable staff a few details about the receiver (hates the beach, fond of cupcakes, etc) and a suitable suggestion will be made.
Jo Malone was a facialist turned bath connoisseur who got her start after the homemade "nutmeg & ginger" bath oil she doled out to clients gained a following. She sold her eponymous company to Estee Lauder in 2006, but the Malone essence remains very much intact: complex scents that mix well, the best ingredients and "beautifully understated packaging." Prices run high, with candles starting at $65 (for 200g) and going up to $375 (for a whopping 2.5kgs). The good news, though, is that they burn for an "exceptionally long time."
Representative Client Comments:
"The wares are expensive, but with quality to match." "Staff takes the time to explain the line and does so very nicely." "The scents are all so relaxing--except for the citrus ones."
